Maryland Jousting

Jousting Arms - Maryland

Jousting Arms - MarylandAnyone else know that the state sport of Maryland is jousting? Do not get to excited yet. Let me explain a bit about it first and then you can make your own determination about whether to be excited or not. First, it is indeed the official state sport of the fine state of Maryland and has been for some number of years. However, if you are thinking knights of old clad in armor, horses, with flowing trappings, and lances striking the opponent – well to put it mildly you will be disappointed.

Medieval & Other Notes

Iott

IottYeah, I am aware of how long it has been since I posted here. I got a plan to remedy that and you can find some additional information about that below. In the meantime, to get things rolling again I thought it would be prudent to make a more generic post about a few little tidbits that I have floating around for some potential good blog subjects for the last several weeks. Let me know if you like this kind of format or not, though I will admit that I will probably not use it much in the future. It would still be good to get some feedback on things. Fall SCA Events Plan

Gulf Wars XX

Gulf Wars XXI was sitting here a few weeks ago and starting to think about getting back to being extremely active with in the SCA. As I was having that thought I started to think about what upcoming events I should consider attending. I made a note or too and decided to motivate me to finish up a few projects that would really get me going I should make a blog of those events. I also started thinking a bit about the upcoming Gulf Wars next spring and the fact that it will be the 20th anniversary Gulf Wars, or in my case something like the sixth one I will be attending I think – as I started with the tenth and typically hit every other one.

Then I began to wonder what am I thinking about planning for Gulf Wars of next year already? Heck, I have not even finished up the blogging I intended to finish from the last Gulf Wars – especially some of the picture story blogs. And then of course I got so distracted with getting the whole reworking of the theme complete and such that the first event I was planning to attend passed by without getting this done.   Then someone else made a post about Gulf Wars on Facebook, so decided I just needed to get focused and put somethings down on the proverbial paper.

Changes to Site

Eligius Screenshot

Eligius ScreenshotIf you are reading this, odds are you have noticed already that there have been some pretty drastic changes to the look and feel the site over the last couple of days. I had held off with a couple of posts in the short-term while I got these changes put in place, so expect some quick post the next couple of days here (and hopefully some catching up from the back log). Given the drastic nature of the changes, I thought it was well worth take a few minutes in a post and running through just what all has changed and what it means to anyone reading things here at Eligius.
